The visitors almost gained an early advantage when, on six minutes, Rodney McAree saw his 25-yard free-kick tipped onto the crossbar by Sky Blues 'keeper Alan Blayney.

But Timmy Adamson did edge the Swifts into the lead after 12 minutes with a back post finish after the static United defence failed to deal with a Marc McCann ball into the area.

And McCann made it 2-0 on 32 minutes with a cool finish after McAree knocked a ball over the top of the strangely non-plussed home rearguard.

The game was over as a contest three minutes into the second half when Adamson claimed his second after he took advantage of a horrendous Blayney error after he failed to deal with a Jamie Tomelty cross.
