Newry stunned the league leaders with the opening goal on 20 minutes after both Paul Leeman and Elliott Morris failed to come for a Philip Simpson back pass allowing former Oval favourite Chris Morgan to nip in to knock the ball home.

And a minute later it was almost 2-0 when Kevin Keegan burst into the area only to lift the ball onto the crossbar.

The visitors threatened again later in the first half when Steven Ferguson saw a long range effort well turned away for a corner by Morris.

However, the Glens levelled a couple of minutes from the break through Simpson who finished from close range after Gary Hamilton had sent the ball in from the near post.

Hamilton went one better five minutes into the second half with a superb volley into the top corner from a Kyle Neill set piece to edge the Glens in front for the first time.
