Goals from Paul Muir and David Cushley kept alive United's slim hopes of making the top six cut before the league split in a few weeks.

Muir opened the scoring after 23 minutes. He volleyed the ball past Ryan Brown from eight yards after a Kevin Kelbie free-kick had been flicked on by Michael Ward.

And Ward almost added a second soon after just when he was about to pounce to a David Cushley effort which Brown could only parry but Bangor defender Jim McMenamin was on hand to clear the danger.

Bangor might have levelled on 56 minutes when Dominic Melly met a Mark Magennis cross only for his header to come back off the inside of the post.

But just four minutes later United secured the points when Cushley knocked the ball beyond Brown from 15 yards after Nigel Boyd had blocked a Kelbie effort.
