Glentoran 2-2 Linfield
Carling Premiership - Tuesday, 26th January, 2010
A GARY Hamilton equaliser two minutes from time was enough to move champions Glentoran back to the top of the Carling Premiership.

The former Northern Ireland international pounced on the loose ball after Blues 'keeper Stuart Addis had fumbled a Daryl Fordyce effort to turn it into the net from a couple of yards out.

Fordyce had given the Glens the lead on 26 minutes with a left foot drive after Matthew Burrows knocked a Keith Gillespie from the right into his path.

But Linfield hit back with two goals early in the second half.

They levelled through unfortunate Glens defender Sean Ward on 50 minutes when a wayward Peter Thompson shot deflected off him and past 'keeper James Taylor.

And they moved in front barely five minutes later. Thompson was involved again with a run and cross from the right which reached Jamie Tomelty who fired the ball into the roof of the net.

The game almost took another twist later in the half when Linfield defender Billy Joe Burns headed the ball against his own crossbar while Winkie Murphy prevented a certain goal with a header from a Gillespie effort.

Linfield might have grabbed a third themselves towards the end when Philip Lowry met yet another Thompson ball but he found Taylor in superb form with a dive to his left.
