After the break Alan Teggart and David McCullough came close for the Ports but it was visitors Institute who came the closest to scoring when Austin Friel's 25-yard effort was spilled by Armstrong only for it to fall the wrong side of the post.

Darren Kelly really should have made sure of the points for the Ports late in the game only to somehow miss from point blank range after meeting a McCutcheon corner.

And it was a chance they would regret missing five minutes from time when Brown knocked that spot-kick past Armstrong after John Convery was adjudged to have handled inside the area.
