Crusaders 1-1 Glenavon
Carling Premiership - Saturday, 21st November, 2009
CRUSADERS closed the gap at the top of the Carling Premiership to three points with this draw at Mourneview Park.

Jordan Owens might have opened the scoring for the visitors after 15 minutes when he hit the post from an indirect free-kick taken deep inside the penalty area after Glenavon 'keeper Tuda Murphy had illegally handled a backpass.

But Stephen Baxter's side did ensure they led at the break thanks to Aaron Black's 33rd minute opener from 12 yards following a good build up which saw him combine with Owens.

However, Glenavon levelled on the hour after a Trevor Molloy cross from the left found Willo McDonagh who steadied himself before confidently slotting the ball past Chris Keenan.

The Crues almost regained the advantage ten minutes from time, though, when Gareth McKeown collected the ball from Marty Donnelly before smashing it against the crossbar.

And Glenavon had their own stab at claiming the spoils with just three minutes left after Molloy played James Costello through to take the ball past Keenan only to fall in the area amid penalty claims.
