Coleraine 3-0 Ards
JJB Sports Irish Cup - Saturday, 17th January, 2009
COLERAINE survived the difficult conditions to progress to the next round of the JJB Sports Irish Cup at the expense of Championship opponents Ards.

After a scoreless first half the Bannsiders moved in front a minute after the restart through Marty Hunter with a close range finish after Stephen Dooley had laid the ball off into his path.

And Hunter was involved seven minutes later for Coleraine's second when his initial effort was saved by Andy McDonald only to fall for David Patton to touch home.

Substitute Jody Tolan rounded off a comfortable victory for David Platt's side right on the final whistle with a glancing header from a left-sided Tommy McCallion corner.
