Dungannon Swifts 1-1 Glentoran
Carling Premiership - Saturday, 12th September, 2009
TEN MAN Dungannon Swifts held on to take a point from this entertaining visit of defending champions Glentoran but lost their place at the top of the table.

The morning leaders moved in front after 13 minutes through Marc McCann who headed downwards past Elliott Morris at the back post after meeting a Michael Ward cross.

Despite persistent pressure from the visitors the Swifts rearguard held out for the remainder of the first half although the Glens did come close when a Kyle Neill 25-yard free-kick came back off the right post.

Dungannon were dealt a blow seven minutes into the second period when Adam McMinn was dismissed by referee Arnold Hunter for collecting his second booking of the game.

The Glens threatened through subsitutes Richard Clarke and Gary Hamilton while Neill (another effort against the woodwork) and Paul Leeman also came close before, with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, Daryl Fordyce met a Keith Gillespie cross to head past Alvin Rouse.

There were further chances for the champions but they failed to find a way through and, indeed, might have ended up with nothing to show for their efforts when Timmy Adamson headed over from close range right at the end.
