Larne 3-5 Dungannon Swifts
Co-operative Insurance Cup - Tuesday, 10th November, 2009
DUNGANNON Swifts comfortably reached the Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-finals despite conceding three goals to Championship opponents Larne at Inver Park.

Dixie Robinson's side already held a two-goal advantage from the first leg and extended it further five minutes before half-time when Shane Coney teed Ryan McIlmoyle up to tap home from close range.

However, Larne hit back within two goals either side of the break to reduce the overall deficit to just a single goal. First, on 42 minutes, an Adam Dick shot deflected off Swifts defender Johnny Montgomery to leave 'keeper Niall Morgan helpless before, a minute into the second half, Lee Thompson beat Morgan with the follow up after his initial effort had been blocked.

But Dungannon levelled on the night three minutes after the hour when Ryan McLoughlin slipped to allow Coney to fire past Ryan Brown.

They then effectively put the tie beyond Larne's reach on 78 minutes when substitute James Slater - only on the pitch a matter of seconds - scored with his first touch before, five minutes later, Coney doubled his personal tally on the rebound from another Slater attempt.

Larne pulled a goal back on 85 minutes courtesy of a David Larmour strike into the top right corner before, a minute into stoppage time, Fergal McAliskey completed the scoring for the visitors with a curling drive from the edge of the area.
