Glenavon 2-1 Lisburn Distillery
Carling Premiership - Saturday, 10th October, 2009
FIRST half goals from Trevor Molloy and Jay Magee proved enough - in the end - for Glenavon to claim the points from this meeting with bottom club Lisburn Distillery.

And with Crusaders crashing at home it means Marty Quinn's side are back to within one point of the top of the Carling Premiership.

The visitors might have taken an early lead when Neal Gawley smashed the ball against the woodwork from 15 yards after Rory Hamill had delivered the ball into his path.

But it was Molloy who opened the scoring when, on 29 minutes, he pounced to knock home the loose ball after Whites 'keeper Philip Matthews fumbled a Willo McDonagh header.

Glenavon doubled their advantage six minutes later courtesy of a low 30-yard Magee drive which seemed to catch everyone unawares.

However Gawley pulled one back for the Whites ten minutes into the second half with a perfectly executed free-kick from just outside the area.

Indeed, they might have gone on to secure a share of the spoils only for 'keeper Andrew Plummer to deny Aaron Callaghan while Philip Simpson, Pat McShane and Hamill also came close later in the game.
