Linfield 0-3 Randers
Europa League - Thursday, 9th July, 2009
AS EXPECTED Linfield bade farewell to the Europa League after Danish side Randers FC hit another three past them at Mourneview Park.

Already four goals down from the first leg David Jeffrey's stated hope was to help Northern Ireland's co-efficient by securing a draw or, at a push, forcing a low scoring victory on the night.

However, even those ambitions proved somewhat lofty when, on 20 minutes, Ricki Olsen fired a close range effort past Alan Blayney from a Marc Nygaard cross.

It was 2-0 on the night after six minutes of the second half. Noel Bailie only partially cleared an Allan Jepsen cross but Kasper Lorentzen was on hand to fire the return beyond a despairing Blayney.

The scoring was completed eight minutes from time after Soren Berg manoeuvred his way through the home defence to shoot high into the net from a few yards out.
