Donegal Celtic 2-1 Dungannon Swifts
Promotion/Relegation play-off - Tuesday, 5th May, 2009
DONEGAL Celtic hold a one-goal advantage going into Friday night's play-off return with Dungannon Swifts following this narrow first leg victory.

Paddy Kelly's side needed just eight minutes to open the scoring when an error by 'keeper Alvin Rouse saw an attempted clearance come off the feet of Celtic striker Daniel Lyons and into the net.

Brendan Shannon twice came close from distance before the break as the Hoops looked to build up a commanding lead.

However, Dungannon grabbed what could prove to be a vital away goal five minutes into the second half when leading marksman Timmy Adamson was allowed the time and space to direct a free header home from a Rodney McAree corner.

But, with seven minutes left Celtic grabbed the winner on the night when an Eamon McAllister cross was knocked on by substitute James Lavery for Paul McDonald to knock past Rouse.
