Lisburn Distillery 1-5 FC Zestafoni
Europa League - Thursday, 2nd July, 2009
LISBURN Distillery's Europa League ambitions are virtually over following this humbling 5-1 defeat at the hands of Georgian side FC Zestafoni at Mourneview Park.

It only took the visitors ten minutes to open the scoring when Shota Grigalashvili unleashed a 30-yard free-kick which 'keeper Paul Murphy fumbled for Nicholas Gelashvili to pounce to stab home.

Goal number two, on 21 minutes, was came from almost the same position and although Murphy managed to get a hand to the ball it wasn't enough to stop Grigalashvili knocking it past him.

The Whites did enjoy a brief flurry around the half-hour mark when first Chris Kingsberry and then Stephen Shaw tested Zestafoni custodian Zurab Mamaladze only for them to fall further behind on 34 minutes after Irakli Dzaria touched the ball over the defence for Gelashvili to double his tally 12-yards out.

And it was four minutes on 38 minutes. The home defence failed to clear allowing Grigalashvili to dispatch the ball into the bottom corner from some 20 yards.

The scoring continued on 49 minutes with Dzaria involved again as he put Tornike Aphtsiauri clear to comfortably beat Murphy.

The Whites did grab a late consolation with just a couple of minutes remaining through debutant Gavin Whelan who finished well from a Kingsberry cross.

The sides meet in the return next Thursday.
