Dungannon Swifts 0-1 Coleraine
JJB Sports Premiership - Saturday, 1st November, 2008
COLERAINE stretched their unbeaten run to six games and moved to within two points of the leaders with this defeat of Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.

Coleraine might have moved in front inside the opening minute when Stephen Dooley found himself one-on-one with Dwayne Nelson only for the Swifts 'keeper to block his six-yard effort.

Richard Gibson also came close for the Bannsiders in an ultimately scoreless first half.

For the Swifts Marc McCann really should have done better after half-an-hour when he mis-kicked just a few yards from goal after Johnny Montgomery had sent in a free-kick.

Dooley threatened again six minutes into the second when he fired just over after Nelson could only punch out a Stephen Carson free-kick into his path.

Michael Hegarty did create an opening for Dungannon but was unable to keep the ball on target.

However, the deadlock was finally broken 11 minutes from time when Matt Crossan delivered the ball from the left flank for Davy Patton to head above Nelson.

The Swifts almost salvaged a point late in the game when Mark McAllister fired against the bar while Jamie Slater was denied by McCormick on the line.
